The Interfaith Leadership Project (ILP) was founded in 1989 by local churches in response to lack of accountability from local government and several neighborhood problems including poor quality education and gang activity /graffiti.  ILP's mission is to build power so that regular people have a seat at the table where decisions are made, to build better communities and strengthen local institutions by fostering relationships, developing leaders, and deepening civic engagement.
